IEA Foundation attends the presentation of a modeling system to predict the effects of the drainage basin in the' Mar Menor'

Mr. Francisco Cabezas, director of IEA Foundation, has participated in the 'Technical Conference on the Model of the Mar Menor and its catchment basin' as a collaborator for creation of a platform that helps to anticipate and know how to act on heavy rains or floods; a phenomena typical for the Mar Menor area.

This modeling system, which runs through mathematical models and monitoring systems, will help predict surface and underground water flows, has been developed by the Community, the Mar Menor Observatory under the direction of the Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research and Development of Murcia (Imida) and collaboration of other participants such as the National Research Council-Institute of Marine Sciences CNR-ISMAR (Italy), the Departments of Mining and Civil Engineering, the Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), the Department of Water Engineering and Environment from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), companies such as Nologin and HydroGeoModels AG (Switzerland), and the Euro-Mediterranean Water Institute Foundation.
