The Binomial Forum 'Agua-Agro'
The director of Euro-Mediterranean Water Institute Foundation, Mr Francisco Cabezas has expressed his point of view at the conference on the Water-Agro Binomial organized by Coag and sponsored by Cajamar, AgroBank and Azud. It was a multitudinous event in which many experts have participated such as Mr José Luis García Aróstegui, the head scientist of the IGME, the professor Pérez Ruzafa, the professor of Ecology Miguel Ángel Esteve and Mariano Soto, secretary of the Community of Irrigators of the ‘Campo de Cartagena’, among other specialists. Mr Cabezas warned about another "important" problem that hangs over the basin with overexploited aquifers in the next planning cycle. He explained that, if there is a 100-hectare cut in the Transfer, it would be added to another 200 hectometers that would no longer be extracted from the wells, which would aggravate the demarcation deficit.
