Technical Workshop on Regional / Sub-regional Water Projects.
The Union for the Mediterranean (UpM), in collaboration Euro-mediterranean Water Institute (IEA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia, met for three days (21 to 23 February) in Murcia to more than twenty experts in management and utilization of water resources from nine countries bordering the Mediterranean. It took place in which to exchange experiences and knowledge in the field, to achieve solutions to the problem of scarcity of water.
Also, the meeting was used to do visits where participants learned firsthand the Murcian model of water resources management (debug, reuse and irrigation system), which was praised by all, especially by Rafiq Husseini, Secretary General water and chief deputy of the UpM, who noted that our own system is an example of good use and water use in semi-arid follow European and other Mediterranean basin countries suffering the same problem.
